Our PA Live! Blog of the Week this week is “Semper Fi Parents” (http://www.semperfiparents.com) the blog of Carl and Sue Andrews!
Carl is a Luzerne County 4th District Republican Committeeman, a blogger, and most importantly, the proud parent of a USMC Corporal.  Carl gets most of the inspiration for his blog from his daughter Holly who is on active duty and currently stationed at MCAS Iwakuni Japan.

Semper Fi Parents presents articles about Marines in wartime, Marine Corps Boot Camp training, Marine Corps history and traditions, notable Marines, up-to-date Marine Corps news from a wide variety of sources and much much more.  This blog is literally your one-stop-shop for Military information.  Semper Fi Parents also is a bit like NEPA Blogs in that it is a clearinghouse linking to several other Military and Marine blogs.  I have to admit that I was a bit intimidated by writing this blog post up because I didn’t know much about the Marines or Military, I learned a lot of good information by reading just a few of the blog posts.
A few weeks ago, Semper Fi Parents was nominated for a 2012 Milbloggie Award under the “Best U.S. Military Parent Blog” category.  The voting has since closed, but Carl tells us that the results will be announced on Friday.  We are keeping our fingers and toes crossed that Semper Fi Parents wins the category.  You can find out more details about the awards and the other categories right here.

Carl wanted me to point out that he’s always looking to connect with anyone who was or is currently in the Corp or parents/family of those who are serving who may want to share their story on his blog.  You can find Carl on our NEPA Bloggers Facebook Group and also on Twitter under the username @semperfiparents.
If you are looking for a way to help say thanks to those currently serving overseas, check out the Marine Corps Care Package blog post.  Carl's friend Cami is taking up a collection to send to a Military base in Afghanistan.

...And while we are on the topic of Military blogs, be sure to check out the NEPA Veterans Employment Bootcamp that is coming to Kings College on May 31st.  The event, which is coordinated by the NEPA VMA, is free and open to any interested Veterans to attend.
If you have a blog you would like us to link on NEPA Blogs, or know of a blog you think we should link, please let us know! You can always drop us a line at nepablogs@gmail.com!
