Our PA Live! Blog of the Week this week is Dave Yonki's 590 Forever WARM Radio (http://david-yonki.blogspot.com/).

Anyone over a certain age who grew up in Northeastern Pennsylvania is familiar with "The Mighty 590", WARM. It first began broadcasting in 1940, came of age in the 1950's, and hit reached the height of popularity in the 1960's and early 70's. Dave Yonki's 590 Forever WARM Radio treats us to  behind-the-scenes stories of life at WARM back in the day, clippings of old-time newspaper ads and articles about WARM, and updates on the larger-than-life figures who once broadcast from the WARM studios. The history of WARM is tied into the history of Northeastern Pennsylvania, so many of these stories of WARM reflect NEPA as it once was - for example, the role WARM played in the response to the Agnes flood of 1972.

WARM still exists, and still broadcasts music from those long-ago times. What was once the hottest contemporary station is now an oldies station, playing music that brings back memories of a long-ago time. Dave Yonki's 590 Forever WARM Radio fleshes out those memories with pictures and stories of the people who once made WARM into "The Mighty 590."
