It's been a while since I've posted here. I'm not going to lie, I miss it a lot. Job commitments were the primary reason that I've stayed away as long as I have. Now that I have more time and freedom on my hands, I figured I'd ease in slowly by going through our mailbag which has been neglected for a while. This may be old news to some, but two guys who had taken time-outs from blogging are back.

Tom Borthwick took a sabbatical to run for school board and get married.  He's back to blogging semi-regularly at http://www.tomborthwick.com.  Tom's blog features topics about politics and writing.

Frank Knorek retired his personal blog approximately a year ago.  He's back again with a food review blog called "NEPA Culinary Review" which can be found at http://nepaculinaryreview.wordpress.com.  According to the about page, the NEPA Culinary Review blog is  your source for news and information surrounding the recipes, people, and places relating to good food and drink in Northeastern Pennsylvania.

As I mentioned earlier, Lauren Elsasser (the blog's author) was on a segment on WNEP-TV's Home and Backyard.  I created the draft for this blog post roughly a year ago and have been sitting on it since because I'm a slacker (well...technically, the draft got shoved to the last page of our draft post list...and I forgot about it).  Anyway, it turns out the recipe that Lauren made for H&B last year was for adorable Easter Cupcakes - perfect timing to feature this blog and post since Easter is at the end of this month.  I love when my procrastination unintentionally yields positive results!

You may remember a few months of go, we featured +NEPA PizzaReview on the blog.  At the time, I thought they were the only Pizza Review blog in the region.  It turns out, I was wrong!  James, of the Keystone Pizza Critic blog recently followed us on Twitter and I learned quickly that there was another Pizza Review blog in the area!

"I’m James. I dabble with this, ride my mountain bike, dabble with that, love traveling, pets, entrepreneurship, and of course, pizza.

I love all pizza, so long as it is good. I don’t believe that I have a bias towards thin vs. thick crust, crisp vs. pliable, acidic vs. sweet, round vs. square, fried vs. baked, and so on. While I currently live in the Philadelphia region I was born and raised in the Wilkes-Barre, PA area, and so I have consumed more pizza in that area than any other. Whiskey Bacon

I first met Dan Kimbrough at last September's NEPA BlogCon, where he was recording the event on video and serving delicious food courtesy of Whiskey Bacon, which was one of the BlogCon's sponsors. I didn't realize at the time - or in the numerous times that I've met and hung out with him since, up until last night - that Whiskey Bacon is actually Dan's blog!

NEPA Pizza Review

I'm going to let the about section of this blog speak for itself....

NEPA is renowned for it's abundant and diverse selection of pizza restaurants.  I'm a lifelong NEPA resident, longtime pizza maker, and avid lover of all types of pizza.  My goal is to bring you a minimum of 1 pizza review per week and build a library of reviews of pizza places throughout NEPA.

Two cool things I found about this blog was that the author decided to create a Google Map to plot out all of the pizza places that were reviewed.  You can check that out here.   Also, the blog's author engages his readers by creating interactive polls.  The one up now asks "What is your favorite kind of pizza?" Choices:  Thin Crust (NY Style), Thick Crust (Chicago Style), Old Forge Style, Sicilian.  Of course, I voted for my favorite - Sicilian. 

This blog is fairly young, it's only been around since June.  It does have several reviews of popular pizza places in the area so far (Revellos, The Gourmet Slice and Colarusso's to name a few).  We look forward to reading (....and drooling over....) more reviews soon!

My name is Lindsay Barrasse but I simply go by Lindsay Boo on this thing called the internet. I make zany videos on my YouTube as well as host, edit, direct, write, and star in my own web series called “PUB CULTURE”

This blog was started December of 2010 due to my love of photography, New York City and cannoli. I actually live in Pennsylvania, about a 2 hour drive from New York City, but I have been visiting since I was very little. I wanted to write a blog to show people what NYC has to offer and that you can see something different with each visit. I come from an Italian family, and great food was always a big part of our lives. I enjoy trying many different afternoon teas in the city and reporting my experiences with my followers. I like to show many desserts, hence the cannoli in the title, fancy restaurants as well as inexpensive ones. I feel my blog is great for those who wish to learn something about NYC and it’s many culinary offerings. It is also for those who cannot visit, have the chance to see it via my camera lens. I am honest in my thoughts about places and give you a real insight to visiting them. I never get tired of seeing that skyline when I first enter the city as it is just one special place.
