Beer and (more) Pizza Review Blogs

You've had a long week - the weather sucks, gas prices are rising, and the kids are being evil brats.  You've worked hard and now you deserve a treat.  How about a tall cold one and a slice of cheesy greasy pizza?  Sound good?  I thought so.

We have two bloggers to help you out with selecting your brew and pie.

NEPA Beer Reviews

Joe, Sean and Amanda post video and photos of beers they review on the blog.  They've been at it since March 2012 and are showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon.  You can also follow their adventures on Twitter under the handles @NEPABeerBlogger @NEPABeerReviews and on Facebook.

You may remember a few months of go, we featured +NEPA PizzaReview on the blog.  At the time, I thought they were the only Pizza Review blog in the region.  It turns out, I was wrong!  James, of the Keystone Pizza Critic blog recently followed us on Twitter and I learned quickly that there was another Pizza Review blog in the area!

From the About:

"I’m James. I dabble with this, ride my mountain bike, dabble with that, love traveling, pets, entrepreneurship, and of course, pizza.

I love all pizza, so long as it is good. I don’t believe that I have a bias towards thin vs. thick crust, crisp vs. pliable, acidic vs. sweet, round vs. square, fried vs. baked, and so on. While I currently live in the Philadelphia region I was born and raised in the Wilkes-Barre, PA area, and so I have consumed more pizza in that area than any other. I will note that Wilkes-Barre is a short ride from Old Forge, which is viewed by many as the pizza capital of the world. Ironically, I don’t find Old Forge style pizza to be anything special, but I will nonetheless offer reviews of it in the future.

The intent of this blog is to document my opinion and information of varying pizza shops and their products. Most of my reviews will be of establishments in Pennsylvania; maybe sometimes from neighboring states. Sometimes you will agree with my opinion, and maybe sometimes you will not. I welcome your comments either way."

Sounds delicious.  I think I just gained five pounds while adding these to our blog roll.

Happy Saturday!

PA Live! Blog of the Week: NEPA Pizza Review

NEPA Blogs will be presenting a "Blog of the Week" on the WBRE's PA Live! every Tuesday. PA Live! airs weekday afternoons on WBRE from 4:00 to 5:00.

Watch this episode on WBRE's PA Live! site: http://pahomepage.com/palive-details?nxd_id=281172

Our PA Live! Blog of the Week this week is NEPA Pizza Review (http://www.nepapizzareview.com/).

Here in Northeastern Pennsylvania, we love our pizza. Thin crust, thick crust, Old Forge style, Sicilian,  all sorts of pizzas. We have a vast array of pizza places to choose from. And while, as the saying goes, bad pizza is better than no pizza, how do you know whether or not you'll like pizza from a place you've never tried before? That's where the NEPA Pizza Review comes into play. The anonymous blogger behind the site - who describes himself as "lifelong NEPA resident, longtime pizza maker, and avid lover of all types of pizza" - has made it his goal to deliver "a minimum of 1 pizza review per week and build a library of reviews of pizza places throughout NEPA."

The NEPA Pizza Review is keeping up the pace. In its first three months it had covered nineteen pizza places throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania. They're listed by name, but are also indexed by several different descriptions of type, as well as by location. He also solicits recommendations from readers, provides tips for improving your homemade pizza, and  provides an interactive map showing all the places he's reviewed.

We're all going to eat pizza sooner or later. Why not go into your pizza-eating experience with as much knowledge as possible? Thanks to the NEPA Pizza Review, you might just know which pizza will be disappointing, and which will be delicious!

If you have a blog you would like us to link on NEPA Blogs, or know of a blog you think we should link, please let us know! You can always drop us a line at nepablogs@gmail.com!

NEPA Pizza Review

I'm going to let the about section of this blog speak for itself....

NEPA is renowned for it's abundant and diverse selection of pizza restaurants.  I'm a lifelong NEPA resident, longtime pizza maker, and avid lover of all types of pizza.  My goal is to bring you a minimum of 1 pizza review per week and build a library of reviews of pizza places throughout NEPA.

Two cool things I found about this blog was that the author decided to create a Google Map to plot out all of the pizza places that were reviewed.  You can check that out here.   Also, the blog's author engages his readers by creating interactive polls.  The one up now asks "What is your favorite kind of pizza?" Choices:  Thin Crust (NY Style), Thick Crust (Chicago Style), Old Forge Style, Sicilian.  Of course, I voted for my favorite - Sicilian.

This blog is fairly young, it's only been around since June.  It does have several reviews of popular pizza places in the area so far (Revellos, The Gourmet Slice and Colarusso's to name a few).  We look forward to reading (....and drooling over....) more reviews soon!
