Our PA Live! Blog of the Week this week is “Another Monkey” (http://anothermonkey.blogspot.com/) the personal blog of NEPA Blogs founder and Co-Admin Harold Jenkins! For those of you already familiar with our PA Live! “Blog of the Week” segments, you will remember Harold as the face of NEPABlogs.org. He presented the Blog of the Week every week until April 10th, when Shannon Nelson of A Girl’s Gotta Spa! took over the segment.
Harold (pseudonym D.B. Echo) has been blogging since 2004 about autobiographical topics, that is to say, he is a life blogger. The name of Harold’s blog - “Another Monkey” - comes partially from a quote from Robert Wilensky (“We've all heard that a million monkeys banging on a million typewriters will eventually reproduce the entire works of Shakespeare. Now, thanks to the Internet, we know this is not true.”) and also the song by the Barenaked Ladies “Another Postcard”. Harold considers himself “just another monkey banging out a blog”, but to many people it is much more than that. You can read more about Harold and get the gist of what "Another Monkey" is in the about posts here, here and here.
Some of the most notable posts from Another Monkey include topics such as Stained Glass Windows, the NEPA Sideshow Gathering, Solar Energy and Fracking. Harold is also particularly proud of his Paul Krugman meme and the fact that he still gets hits for a post he did about headless rabbits. Harold has spun off some of these topics into their own blogs:
....and last, but not least.....
For the longest time, Harold religiously strived to post a new blog entry every day, but life got in the way, and the posts dwindled off to one or two per week. As I talked to Harold this evening, he reported to me that he has 2,629 blog posts under his belt. Not bad for 9 years of blogging, I must say.
Harold is an extremely friendly and approachable person. I should know, I’ve been good friends with him for 6+ years now - hell, he's probably one of my best friends. Anyway, If you’d like to network with my blogging partner in crime, you can find him on our NEPA Bloggers Facebook Group and also on Twitter under the username @haroldj_nepa.
If you have a blog you would like us to link on NEPA Blogs, or know of a blog you think we should link, please let us know! You can always drop us a line at nepablogs@gmail.com!
