PA Live! Blog of the Week: WB Fire Fighters Thoughts

NEPA Blogs will be presenting a "Blog of the Week" on the WBRE's PA Live! every Tuesday. PA Live! airs weekday afternoons on WBRE from 4:00 to 5:00.

Watch this episode on the PA Live! site:

Our PA Live! Blog of the Week this week is WB Fire Fighters Thoughts (http://wbff88.blogspot.com/). It's written by Wilkes-Barre fire fighter Dan Emplit, a.k.a. Don Quixote, who describes himself as "an over-caffeinated 18 year WBFD Engine 3 Driver, with 6 years Active Military service who has the clinging scent of gun oil about him."

Dan's posts aren't just about fire fighting. He shares his thoughts on local politics, has a remarkable series of posts filled with pictures of the condition of the interior of the Hotel Sterling (material from a class he took as part of his job; you can see the pictures here, here, here, here, and here), talks about national politics, gun safety, America's position in the world - and his blog was the first place I ever saw the trailer for the Avengers movie! (Hawkeye? Really? He does look pretty cool here...)

Dan can be blunt and frank at times, and his language reflects this. So if you're the sort who comes down with a case of the vapors when you encounter words you might not hear in Sunday School, you might want to have a fan handy when you read his blog. But if you'd like to get the thoughts of someone who routinely puts his life on the line to protect the lives and property of others, stop by WB Fire Fighters Thoughts and see what Dan has to say!

For other thoughts from a fire fighter, be sure to check out Gary R. Ryman's twin blogs Keep 200 Ft Back: My View From the Back Step and Fire Men, the companion blog to his newly-published book of the same title!
